I just bought a new SSD - Samsung 860 EVO and decided to compare its speed with my old 840 EVO. The results look weird as none of them come close (especially the 860) to the advertised read/write speeds (at least read speeds should be above 500 MB/S). What could be the reason for the slowdown?

Many factors can limit the speed of your SSD; for example, SSD disk space is insufficient, there is an error on the SSD, or there is a problem with the performance of the SSD. Fortunately, I have solved this issue successfully.
There is an optimization and management program for Samsung SSDs, called Samsung Magician, which also provides firmware updates and other useful bug-fixing tools. You can download Magician when your Samsung SSD starts to slow down, but you should download the latest version. Run it, upgrade all firmware, and check if that fixes your problem. Here is how:
Step 1. Visit the Samsung website to get the latest Samsung Magician app and run it.
Step 2. In the Samsung Magician window, click the Update button in the lower left corner.
Step 3. You will see update options for all firmware updates available for your Samsung SSD. Here, you need to click on Update to continue and then OK.
Step 4. After completing the process, open the Samsung Magician software on your PC to check if the firmware has been updated.
After this process, this issue may have been removed, and you can check it. To do this, you may seek help from a reliable disk speed tester - EaseUS Partition Master.
This software can help you display all the details related to SSD speed, such as I/O, Delay, Sequential read, Random read, Sequential Read, and Random write.
Here is how to use it:
Step 1. Start EaseUS Partition Master. Then click the download button to activate the "DiskMark" feature under the "Discovery" section.
Step 2. Click the drop-down boxes to select the target drive, test data, and block size. Then click "Start."
