I Can't Install Windows 10 on SSD Drive, What Should I Do

On this HP Pavilion 15 laptop, I've been attempting to install Windows 10, but without luck. Windows cannot be installed on the partition. And the system can't boot normally. Please help me.

If Windows 10 fails to install on the disk, this is due to the hardware not supporting booting. You may need to enable the disk controller in the BIOS. Of course, it could also be caused by a corrupted partition or a basic problem with the SSD. You can try the following fixes:

Fix 1. Preliminary Fixes

Before proceeding with a complex scenario, check the following:

  • SSD is connected correctly and in the correct slot
  • The latest version of BIOS is running
  • UEFI is active and not corrupted
  • SATA operating mode is on AHCI

You can then follow the instructions below to fix the problem that the Windows 7 installer does not recognize the SSD or Windows does not install to that disk.

Fix 2. Clean Your SSD

Step 1. Boot into BIOS and set SATA to AHCI mode. And enable Secure Boot.

Step 2. Open a command prompt and type:

  • diskpart
  • list disk
  • select disk x
  • clean all

Fix 3. Convert SSD to MBR

Try EaseUS Partition Master to convert to MBR without deleting partitions:
